If you’re planning to build a new fertilizer production line, one of the first questions you’ll face is which granulation technology is the right investment. If your fertilizer project focuses on small or medium granulation production capacity and you want high-quality spherical granules without investing in a large rotary drum system, a disc pan granulator is often the most practical choice.
Which Raw Materials Can a Disc Pan Granulator Process?
One of the biggest advantages of a disc pan granulator is its ability to process a wide range of powdered materials after proper preparation and moisture adjustment.
Composted Organic Fertilizer Materials
For organic fertilizer production, a disc pan granulator is widely used to granulate composted chicken manure, cow dung, pig manure, sheep manure, horse manure, mushroom residue, crop straw compost, bio-organic fertilizer, and other fermented organic materials. Because fresh manure usually contains excessive moisture, it should first undergo aerobic composting to produce mature compost with stable organic matter before entering the granulation stage.Compound Fertilizer and Mineral Powder Materials
The machine is also suitable for compound fertilizers and mineral products, such as NPK fertilizer, organic-mineral fertilizer, rock phosphate, limestone powder, dolomite, bentonite, gypsum, and various soil conditioners. This makes it a flexible choice for both organic fertilizer plants and mineral powder granulation projects.Adjustable Operation for Different Material Properties
Since every material has different particle size, moisture content, and flow characteristics, the disc pan granulator allows you to adjust water addition, disc inclination, and rotational speed during production. This flexibility enables one production line to manufacture multiple fertilizer products while maintaining stable granule quality. How Does a Disc Pan Granulator Work?
A complete disc pan granulation system combines intelligent material preparation, automatic granulation, and continuous post-processing into one efficient production line. The production process is: Automatic Batching → Mixing → Automatic Water Spraying → Disc Pan Granulation → Drying (Optional) → Cooling (Optional) → Screening → Automatic Packaging → Robot Palletizing
Why Do Many Fertilizer Manufacturers Choose a Disc Pan Granulator?
If you’re building a small or medium-sized fertilizer plant, a disc pan granulator offers an excellent balance between investment and granule quality.
If your priority is producing attractive commercial fertilizer while controlling project costs, a disc pan granulator is often the most practical solution.
Which Disc Pan Granulator Model Is Right for Your Fertilizer Project?
Our disc granulator adopts a whole circular arc structure, and the granulation rate can reach more than 93%, making it suitable for organic fertilizer, compound fertilizer, mineral fertilizer, and soil amendment granulation. you can choose the suitable machine according to your capacity.
1-3 t/h disc pan fertilizer granulation line
For a 1–3 T/H fertilizer production line, SXYZ-1800, SXYZ-2000, and SXYZ-2500 are the most commonly selected models.
These disc pan granulators feature disc diameters ranging from 1800 mm to 2500 mm, with production capacities of approximately 1–2 T/H, 1.2–1.5 T/H, and 1.5–2 T/H, respectively. Depending on your raw material properties and operating schedule, a single machine or two units operating in parallel can comfortably support a commercial production capacity of 1–3 T/H.
This configuration is well suited for livestock farms, agricultural cooperatives, and newly established organic fertilizer manufacturers that are upgrading from manure recycling to commercial fertilizer production.
3-5 t/h disc pan pelletizing fertilizer granulation line
For a 3–5 T/H fertilizer production line, you can choose SXYZ-3000 as the core granulation equipment.

This model uses a 3000 mm disc diameter, 450 mm pan height, 14 r/min rotation speed, and 11 kW motor power, with a capacity of about 2–4 T/H. If your raw material has good granulation performance or your project requires slightly higher output, one larger model such as SXYZ-3600 can also be considered.
In a complete 3–5 T/H line, the disc granulator is usually matched with automatic batching, horizontal mixing, rotary drying, cooling, screening, and automatic packaging equipment.
5-10 t/h disc pan granules fertilizer granulation line
In short, for commercial projects, SXYZ-3000 is more suitable for 3–5 T/H production, SXYZ-3600 is better for 5–10 T/H projects, and rotary drum granulation systems are recommended for 10–20 T/H lines. This selection method helps you avoid under-sized equipment, reduce unnecessary investment, and build a granulation line that matches both current production needs and future expansion.
How Can a Disc Pan Granulator Increase Your Return on Investment?
For many fertilizer manufacturers, the disc pan granulator delivers one of the fastest returns among wet granulation technologies.
As your production grows, the disc pan granulator can be easily integrated into a complete fertilizer production line, including composting, drying, cooling, coating, and automatic packaging. This modular design allows you to expand capacity without replacing the entire granulation system, protecting your initial investment while supporting long-term business growth.
Build a Disc Pan Granulation Solution That Fits Your Project
Every fertilizer project has different raw materials, production targets, and investment priorities. For some manufacturers, a standalone disc pan granulator is enough to upgrade existing production. For others, it becomes the core machine in a complete organic fertilizer or NPK fertilizer production line.
