The client wanted to transform chicken manure into higher-value organic fertilizer instead of treating it as waste. How Can a Poultry Waste Management Plan Handle High-Moisture Chicken Manure?

The customer’s first concern was how to manage fresh chicken manure with high moisture content before fertilizer production.

Fresh chicken manure usually contains excessive moisture, which creates challenges during composting and granulation. When moisture levels remain too high, oxygen cannot move freely through the compost pile. Infolge, microbial activity slows down, fermentation takes longer, and odor and leachate problems become more difficult to control.

After testing the raw materials, we found that the moisture content of fresh chicken manure exceeded 70–75%. This level was too high for direct composting or granulation. To solve this issue, we recommended mixing fresh chicken manure with dry bulking materials such as straw and sawdust. This adjustment reduces moisture to approximately 55%–65%, creating better conditions for aerobic fermentation. Gleichzeitig, these materials improve pile structure and increase oxygen circulation. This helps microorganisms decompose organic matter faster while reducing odor emissions and leachate generation during composting.

How Can a Poultry Waste Management Plan Reduce Odor During Composting?

Odor control was another major concern for the client. The poultry farm needed a solution that could improve environmental performance while reducing the impact on surrounding areas.

Enclosed Fermentation for Cleaner Production

To address this challenge, we designed two SXFT-100 vertical fermentation tanks, each with a capacity of 100 m³. Unlike open composting methods, enclosed fermentation tanks provide a more controlled environment. They automatically supply oxygen, regulate temperature, and mix the material during fermentation. This design reduces odor leakage and accelerates compost maturity. Exhaust Gas Treatment System

How Can a Poultry Waste Management Plan Maximize the Value of Chicken Manure?

After solving moisture and odor problems, the customer’s next goal was to increase the commercial value of chicken manure.

Converting Chicken Manure into Organic Fertilizer

According to our engineering calculations, a farm with 500,000 laying hens can generate approximately 40–60 tons of fresh manure per day, or around 20,000–30,000 tons annually. Based on the farm scale and market requirements, we recommended a 5–8 T/H stirring tooth fertilizer granulation production line. The core equipment is the SXJZ-1500 stirring tooth fertilizer granulator. This machine uses high-speed stirring and airflow technology to form uniform organic fertilizer granules. It achieves a granulation rate of approximately 97% and produces granules with a diameter of 2–5 mm. The granulation process only takes around 3–5 minutes from feeding to discharge, making it suitable for continuous fertilizer production.

To complete the fertilizer manufacturing process, we configured the production line with drying, Kühlung, Screening, und Verpackungsanlagen. The system includes an SXHG-1212 Rotationstrockner, rotary drum cooler, Rotationssiebmaschine, und automatische Verpackungsmaschine. After fermentation and granulation, the finished fertilizer passes through drying and cooling to improve storage stability. The screening system then separates qualified granules, while the packaging system prepares the final product for commercial sale. With this complete production solution, the customer can produce approximately 10,000–20,000 tons of finished organic fertilizer annually and turn poultry waste into a valuable agricultural product.
